Insecure Writer's Support Group: Publishing Routes

Hiya! We're taking a crack at the group posting activity over at The Insecure Writer's Support Group. Why? Because this is an author blog, dang it, and I'm perpetually insecure. Besides, without prompting, I forget I have a blog. So, here we go!

The awesome co-hosts for the September 5 posting of the IWSG are Toi Thomas, T. Powell Coltrin, M.J. Fifield, and Tara Tyler!

What publishing path are you considering/did you take, and why?

Well, considering I've yet to publish a creative work yet we can talk about what I'd like to do. Ideally, I'd love all the props and benefits of traditional publishing, but I'm also a control freak, so indie publishing also has its appeal. I'm also fairly early into the writing process, so I'm sure as I get closer to a finished product, I'll really start digging into what options are best for me.

For now, I'm focusing on building up a presence online, convincing my friends that they do like me enough to join my mailing list, trying to figure out why Squarespace isn't letting Google index like, one page on my site, and oh, yeah... writing my book!

So tell me--what's your publishing style? Drop your goals, your tips, or your worries in the comments below!
